Rice University in Houston recently founded the &amp;quot;Rice-Israel Initiative for Scholarly Exchange and Collaboration,&amp;quot; a top-down initiative that promotes educational projects, and hopefully future economic ties, between Rice faculty and students and their counterparts at seven Israeli institutions. This is at a university (Rice) that is home to one of Edward Said&amp;#39;s nephews, history professor Ussama Makdisi, who preaches BDS.
